Lyra Metroid

Crappy attempt at re-spriting Metroid. To use, download Tile Layer Pro, open a copy of Metroid [U].nes (8-bit NES ROM), and [Edit] [Import BMP] file into Samus' animations (located about 4/5 of the way down [use page down key]). (See Tile Layer Pro website for more information.) Save the game file using a different file name and then play. Samus' animations should then be different.

The running animation is terrible. Lyra doesn't move her head based on firing direction. The summer-salt jump looked like it would work but the in-game truth is quite the opposite.

Thought this would be a cute gift for the community but, in the words of Applejack: "Nah..."

Note: the palette will be all messed up. I edited the HEX and was able to modify the colors to match what you see in the BMP file but your version of Metroid will not have had this change. I recommend an emulator called FCEUX. It has a built in PPU editor and HEX editor to modify the colors.

Anyway, I WON'T be releasing this as a finished product. I'm away from home as it is and just was doing this for fun.
